Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a woman who has disappeared with her three-year-old son, contravening a court order.
Kaylan Mae Niven and her son Levi Thor Grover have been missing since 3 October, when Niven contravened a court order issued by the Benoni family court. The court ruled in January that the parents had to share custody of Levi, alternating weekly.
Niven failed to return Levi to his father, Neville Grover, on 3 October, said Benoni police. Niven never returned Levi, and has been on the run since. A warrant has since been issued for her arrest.
Niven’s last known address was the Arbez Home Lodge in Jacqueline Street, The Reeds, where she stayed with her boyfriend, Roman Rutkowski and her son Levi. The three booked in at the Lodge on 20 October, and left after a couple of nights without paying.
According to Disa Smuts, owner of Arbez, baby Levi had cried a lot in the evenings.
Hi5 Kids recovery unit and the police have issued wanted and missing posters for Niven and Levi. Levi’s father and grandmother said they were worried about the child’s safety, and just wanted to get him back home.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the mother and child can contact Col. Ledwaba on 082-771-6390.
