Escapees still at large
Police are still searching for seven escaped prisoners after a Ga-Rankuwa police truck was ambushed last month.

Seven prisoners were on Monday still evading capture after a police truck was ambushed in Ga-Rankuwa last month, enabling them to escape.
Police spokesperson Captain Doniah Mothutsane said the vehicle was carrying 28 prisoners awaiting trial. They forced open the back door of the truck when it was attacked. Most of them had been re-arrested.
The seven men still being sought were Patrick Makwe, Solly Masia, Bongani Ngomani, Jan Nene, Willy Madonsela, Tshepiso Mogorosi, and Jimmy Ramochia..
Mothutsane said: “Of the 28 prisoners who were in the truck, four did not escape at all. To date, 17 were re-arrested and seven are still at large.”
The prisoners were being transported from Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court to Kgosi Mampuru Prison on Friday afternoon when they were allegedly ambushed by armed men on Medunsa Road.
“Thus far, 17 prisoners have appeared in court for their different cases and escaping from police custody. Three appeared in court for ambushing the truck including Leonard Watson, a prisoner, whom the escape was apparently organised for.”
Anyone with information on the escapees could call 08600-10111.
