Robbers arrested after high-speed chase

Two armed men caught when they crashed their vehicle into a wall after a high-speed chase.

A high-speed chase ended in the arrest of two armed men on Monday after they robbed a house in Queenswood.

The two were cornered in Eersterust after they drove into a wall trying to flee from the police.

Villieria police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said that the armed men entered a house in Queenswood and held two people hostage as they ransacked the home.

One of the victims saw four robbers on the scene.

She said the police received information about a suspicious red City Golf in the area. The car was spotted as the robbers fled the Moot area on route to Eersterust. The police gave chase and caught two of the robbers. They were later linked to the robbery in Queenswood.

The whereabouts of the other robbers were unknown.

Brits said the robbers took two plasma TV-screens, three cellphones and a camera. All the valuables were in the red city golf when the arrests were made.

“There is a list of charges being laid against the two men including the possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, suspected stolen goods, house robbery and more.”

Brits said the investigation was continuing.
