A 30-year-old man was arrested for apparently raping a 24-year-old woman in Soshanguve.
The incident took place on Saturday night at a tavern in Block JJ Soshanguve.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said the victim alleged she was with friends when the suspect started talking to her.
“The suspect asked the woman to accompany him to his residence, where he said he was going to fetch money,” Mangena said.
Upon arrival at the man’s residence, they entered the man’s room to get the money. They planned go back to the tavern.
“The woman said she sat on the chair and the man asked her to come and sit on the bed. When she said no, the man allegedly became aggressive and forceful. He began to remove his clothes before removing hers,” said Mangena.
The woman called the police to lay a charge against the man.
The woman claimed the man offered to give her R200 should she agree to have sex with him.
“When she refused the offer, the guy forced himself on her,” said Mangena.
He allegedly pushed her onto the bed, undressed and raped her.
She said she was crying and he covered her mouth to stop her from making a noise.
He raped her repeatedly and when she asked to be taken home he refused saying ‘you are going nowhere’.
The suspect has been arrested and is facing a charge of rape.
