Man back in court over mutilation
Hammanskraal man charged with attempted murder after mutilating his wife's genitals with a knife.

The next court appearance of a Hammanskraal man accused of mutilating his wife’s genitals has been moved to next month, police said on Wednesday.
Phuti Malema (34) would be back in court on 5 August, police spokesperson Lieutenant Sarah Lesabane said on Wednesday.
“One or two policemen need to testify about the knife said to have been used to cut the woman’s genitals,” Lesabane said.
“The suspect said the knife that was brought to court at his previous appearance was not the one he used against his wife but the police think otherwise.”
Malema is facing charges of attempted murder.
Last week, he pleaded guilty at the Moretele Magistrate’s Court but denied the knife he used was the one presented in court.
Malema allegedly attacked his wife Mapula in front of two kids in their house at Hans Kekana in Hammanskraal last year. He accused her of cheating on him.
Mapula attended court proceedings in a wheelchair last week.
