Robbers killed an 88-year-old man in Hammanskraal this week.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi said Ezekiel Motloutse was found unconscious in the early hours of Monday by his helper in extension nine. He died later.
“Motloutse’s helper found the gate to the premises open when she arrived for work and gained entry through a slightly open sliding door. Inside, she found Motloutse gasping for air with his hands tied at the back with a rope,” said Nkoadi.
“His nose and mouth were bleeding. The helper sought help and an ambulance rushed him to Akasia Clinic where he was certified dead on arrival.”
An LCD television, a microwave, speakers and a Polo Volkswagen vehicle with registration number PLS 227 GP were stolen.
Nkoadi said it was not clear what object was used to assault Motloutse. A case of house robbery and murder was opened and investigations were continuing.
Anyone with information on the matter could contact the Akasia police on 012-564-0700 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line on 32211.
