Muthi used by criminals to commit crime and shield them from the police did not work.
This follows after the Silverton police spotted a suspicious Black Toyota RunX vehicle in Nellmapius Extension 1, during their daily patrol on Tuesday.
Police spotted the vehicle with three persons inside and tried to stop them. The vehicle then sped off.
According to Silverton police station spokesperson, Captain Jan Sepatu, the police arrested one of the men aged 30, but the other two are still at large.
“Police were patrolling in Nellmapius when they spotted the suspected looking vehicle. They tried to stop the vehicle but the occupants sped off.”
A police chase ensued and the occupants drove into a cul de sac and rammed into a house’s gate. Two of them then fled the scene on foot.
One man was cornered and arrested at the house’s premises while trying to jump a wall.”
Police found a 9mm pistol, house-breaking equipment and three sets of gloves inside the vehicle.
Upon further investigation the police found the vehicle was hijacked in Sinoville a month ago. The culprits used a faked licensed disc on the vehicle and fake registration number plates.
“It was also found the man arrested had two outstanding cases at the Silverton police station.”
He will soon appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, hijacking and possession of stolen property.
It is alleged that the culprits used muthi which will help them commit criminal activities without getting caught. The muthi proved not to have worked.
Police request residents to come forward with any information that can lead to the arrest of the other two men on 012-845-4000.
