Farm worker murderer at large
A 49-year-old farm worker was killed by an armed robber at a plot near Hammanskraal on Tuesday morning.
A man who killed a 49-year-old farm worker in Hammanskraal on Tuesday is still on the loose, police said.
The man shot and killed Jacob Bushman Nhlapo who had confronted him when he tried to rob his place of work.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said Nhlapo and a colleague were feeding calves on a small holding near Hammanskraal when they heard the dogs started barking.
“The two went to investigate. As the robber ran out, he met Nhlapo who confronted him,” Mangena said.
“The two tussled for the gun but the robber overpowered Nhlapo before shooting him in the chest.
“The suspect stole Nhlapo’s cellphone then ran away.”
Mangena said when the police and paramedics responded, Nhlapo was lying in a pool of blood.
The farm owner and his wife were away when the shooting occurred.
Mangena said the police were investigating and were hoping to arrest the killer.
