Fraudster nabbed after lengthy manhunt
Video footage of the arrest of the man wanted for various fraud cases in Gauteng surfaced after he was caught in Garsfontein on Wednesday.
Video footage surfaced of an arrest of the man dubbed Steve The Shopper after he was wanted for various cases of fraud and theft in Gauteng.
eBlockwatch’s Andre Snyman posted the footage on social media on Thursday showing him driving with police to where Steve The Shopper was apparently staying in Garsfontein.
Steve made headlines last year for targeting showhouses in Pretoria and Johannesburg, stealing easy-to-carry valuables with the help of a woman believed to be his wife.
According to a police officer in the video, Steve had been arrested 21 times, wanted 14 times and had six pending cases against him.
Steve The Shopper was once arrested in May last year at Silver Lakes Estate. He was released due to insufficient evidence.
Police were unavailable for comment at the time of publishing.
