Tracing unit nabs three for illegal gun possession and stolen vehicle
Three thrown in jail on gun and stolen car possession charges in Centurion on Thursday.
Three men have been arrested in possession of two guns and a stolen motor vehicle in Highveld Centurion a short while ago.
According to Lyttelton police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu, three men aged between 25 and 30 were arrested in Highveld Centurion when the Lyttelton tracing unit noticed a suspicious-looking white Honda Ballade.
“The tracing unit signalled the suspicious car, but it didn’t stop,” said Gumbu.
The police tracing unit chased the Honda Ballade and managed to catch up with the three men inside.
Police immediately arrested the three men.
Police found two pistols with the serial numbers filed off, a hammer and gloves in their possession. It was also established the vehicle had been stolen from the Pretoria Central area.
The men were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of unlicensed firearms.
“The three men will appear in court soon,” Gumbu said.
