Stabbing at Fort Klapperkop
A man and woman were stabbed during a robbery at the notorious Fort Klapperkop on Saturday.
Two people were attacked and stabbed at Fort Klapperkop on Saturday night. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu said a husband and wife were in their Nissan Navara around 19:30 when they were approached by two men.
“The two males threw rocks at the car and broke the driver’s window. They approached the driver and started stabbing him,” he said.
Gumbu said while the wife tried to protect her husband the men stabbed her too. “They took the woman’s purse with her ID book, bank cards, driver’s license and her handbag valued at R15 000.” He said.
According to Brooklyn Sector 4 CPF safety operations manager Trish Scheepers they found the couple’s abandoned car while trying to trace a house breaking.
“We received a call of a house breaking and tried to trace the robber. After the search, some members went up to Fort Klapperkop and upon their arrival found the abandoned car and blood trails,” she said.
Upon investigating, Scheepers said the CPF received information the couple had been taken to a hospital.
Gumbu said no arrests have been made. “We are investigating a case of robbery.”
Brooklyn Sector 4 CPF told Rekord the Hi-risk Unit conducted a clean-up at Fort Klapperkop and the Waterkloof Ridge quarry on Friday morning because hundreds of illegal immigrants sleep there at night, contributing to Klapperkop being notorious for criminal activities.
Arthur Crewe of Hi-risk Unit said: “It was a major clean-up operation as hundreds of illegal immigrants sleep there and it is also a gathering point for criminals.”
Gumbu could not provide information about the clean-up.
