Suspected cop killer allegedly escapes
Suspected cop killer's accomplices allegedly helped him escape from police custody on Tuesday afternoon while being transported back to prison.
A suspected Laudium police killer escaped on Tuesday afternoon.
Rekord has reliably learnt that accomplices of the accused somehow brought a police vehicle carrying him from court to a standstill.
“The men disarmed the police officers, grabbed their friend and fled the scene with him,” a source said.
The escapee was arrested on Sunday after Laudium Constable Ronald Baloyi was shot dead in Atteridgeville on Friday evening. A woman was taken into custody along with him.
He appeared in the Atteridgeville Magistrates’s Court earlier in the day in connection with the killing.
A manhunt has been launched for the escaped man and his accomplices.
Police could not confirm escape immediately.
“We are on our way to the scene,” said spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng.
