A man has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment following a robbery conviction by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, police said.
Captain Augustina Selepe said a 28-year-old man was found guilty of robbery with a dangerous weapons.
“In October 2013, the complainant, Mr Kilan, stopped at the red traffic light on the corner of Thabo Sehume and Struben [streets]. The suspect approached him and pointed at him with a knife before grabbing his necklace and taking off. Mr Kilan, with the assistance of the security, chased after and managed to apprehend the suspect,” she said.
Selepe said police were called and a case of robbery a with dangerous weapon was opened.
“Mr Kilan congratulated Detective Constable Thomas Maluleka of Pretoria central police station for his good [work] and dedication to this case, as he always updated him on the status of the case,” she said.
