A dog in Valhalla Park, just outside Cape Town, was horribly burnt by boiling hot water on Friday night.
According to Sharon Classen of Valhalla Park Animal Welfare (VPAW), the incident occurred around 20:00 on Friday night.
“Cody, a dog in Valhalla Park, was horribly burned when he was thrown with boiling water when he got in a fight with a bitch. We were told of what happened and immediately sent someone to help him.”
Classen informed local veterinarian André Verbiest of Cody, and he rushed out to assist.
Cody has since been taken to the Bergzicht animal hospital in Cape Town.
“Cody’s condition has improved since he was taken to the vet. He is being treated and tomorrow the vet will scrape off the scabs that have formed so that the wound can be properly treated,” said Classen.
She added that the veterinary costs to treat Cody would be substantial, and said any donations would help ensure Cody was properly treated.
“VPAW’s efforts include education about animal welfare, especially in poorer areas. Donations are key to ensuring that we can continue doing that,” said Classen.
