Two-day-old baby found abandoned in Capital Park.
A two-day-old baby was found dumped in a trash can in Capital Park on Saturday afternoon.
Wonderboompoort CPF Sector 2 chairman Pierre Bezuidenhout said the baby was found on Satuday afternoon on the corner of Myburgh Street and 6th Avenue.
“Residents heard the baby crying and found him in the trash can. They immediately phoned the Wonderboompoort police to respond.”
Bezuidenhout added that the baby was taken to hospital, but that no identification could be found.
“At this stage we have no idea who he is. Fortunately, the little man has been taken to a place of safety, where he will stay until a home can be found for him,” said Bezuidenhout.
Wonderboompoort police spokesperson Captain Reed Steynberg urged anyone who may have seen anything or know anything about the baby to phone them on 012-335-2811.
“A big thank you has to go out to Koenie and Leanne Stolz. When the baby was found, they immediately rushed to the Eugene Marais Hospital to ensure that he was safe and healthy.”
