Police in Ga-Rankuwa, with the assistance of the K9 unit, have arrested a 39-year-old man for possession of dagga valued at R5 000.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi said they were tipped off about a man selling dagga in Zone 2.

“Upon arrival at the suspect’s house, our members searched the house and found 10 plastic bags containing dagga stashed in a washing machine,” he said.

When questioned about the items found, the man could not respond and was arrested.

He is in police custody and will remain until his court appearance at the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of dagga.

Nkoadi urged residents to help the police to fight crime.

“Any unethical behaviour or other suspicious activities that could be detrimental to our success can be forwarded to the Gauteng standby provincial duty officers on 082-313-8299 or 082-334-4354.”
