Hunt still on for teenager’s killers

Police still searching for teenager's killers.

The hunt for the killers of a teenager in Welbekend, east of Pretoria, continued on Tuesday.

Keanu Badenhorst (17) was shot dead in his home in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He had just arrived home from The Grubfather restaurant where he worked, waiting tables.

The Badenhorsts — Keanu, his mother Lelanie Storm (41) and 11-year-old sister Leandri — were surprised by five armed men who entered the home through a bathroom window just after midnight.

The 17-year-old confronted them, and one of them shot him in the abdomen.

He died shortly after.

Badenhort’s death has sparked renewed criticism of the high levels of crime in the country, especially on social media.

A Twitter campaign #JusticeForKeanu has received much attention across the country.

A memorial service for Badenhorst will be held on Thursday 3 September at 11:00 at the chapel at Leribisi Lodge, east of Pretoria.
