Sassa card fraud uncovered
Four men were arrested on Monday, after they were discovered with a stack of Sassa cards.

Four men were arrested on Monday night, for possession of stolen SA social security agency (Sassa) cards linked to bank accounts with a collective credit of R40 500.
The chance discovery occurred after Tshwane metro police stopped a vehicle being driven in the face of oncoming traffic in Steve Biko Drive.
Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, of Tshwane metro police, said: “The driver could not present his driver’s licence so he was pulled off the road. The vehicle was searched and officials found the suspected stolen property.
“The men had already withdrawn a total of R7 000 using the cards. They were all arrested.”
Sassa is the government agency responsible for distributing pensions to the elderly and social grants to the infirm and indigent.
The Sassa cards function like bank debit cards.
The men will appear in court soon.
