Raging workers torch Tshwane property

Former Tshwane metro employees went on the rampage in Soshanguve Block F East on Thursday, burning vehicles.
The former employees at the metro storm water division were angry because their contracts were not renewed when they expired last month.
They arrived at the Tshwane satellite office at 06:00, demanding permanent jobs.
The group torched the metro’s vehicles — four vans, two trucks and a minivan. They also smashed the windows of the building.
Police said when they arrived at the scene, the protesters had torched two vehicles.
A metro official said people had been burning tyres in the street since Tuesday.
The security guard at the office, Johannes Magolane, said: “These people came from the street [where] they were burning [objects] in front of the gate. They started throwing stones at me telling me to leave. I left and they pulled a bakkie, which was on fire, out towards the gate.”
Police said no arrests had yet been made.
