Centurion motorists warned of possible taxi violence

Taxi violence over the use of routes expected around Centurion mall on Friday afternoon.

Centurion motorists have been advised to use alternative routes on Friday afternoon to avoid expected taxi violence around Centurion Mall.

“There are a lot of taxis blocking off the road in the area,” warned Centurion Concerned Citizen spokesperson Hannes du Buisson.

He said conflict was brewing between rival taxi operators over the use of routes.

Police spokesperson Colette Weilbach said the situation was under control and was being watched.

She said no violence had been reported by 16:00.

Commuters had been left stranded in several areas, said a reader who called from the mall.
