UPDATE: Water restored in Centurion
Water supply has been restored in some parts of Centurion that has been without water for days.
Water supply has been restored in parts of Centurion where interruptions have been experienced the past three days.
Repairs on the main Rand Water pipe were completed on Saturday night, said ward councillor Clive Napier.
He said some areas might still be without water for a while as the system was filling up.
.
“Residents of Lyttelton and Die Hoewes must be complimented for their patience and willingness to assist one another during the water supply interruption. Hopefully the system will soon be fully functional.”
Napier said poor water infrastructure maintenance was to blame. At the same time, the metro had no disaster management plan in place.
“What is needed is regular maintenance and renewal of the water infrastructure in the area to curtail similar prolonged interruptions in the future.”
The Tshwane metro said earlier on its Facebook page said the interruptions in water supply were due to a major pipe burst.
