Stormy rain leaves residents without power

Various parts of Pretoria are experiencing power outages after Monday’s stormy rain.

Parts of Pretoria were without electricity on Tuesday after stormy weather damaged power lines.

“Various parts of Centurion, Pretoria West and the CBD were left without power following the stormy rain experienced last night,” said metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.

“The city’s energy and electricity department has dispatched technicians to attend to problems and restore power supply to the affected areas.”

Hardest hit were parts of Wierda Park, Queenswood, Meyerspark, Waterkloof Ridge, Pretoria West and the city centre.

Trees falling on power lines were partly to blame.

Mashigo said the heavy weather had also caused delays in the metro’s response to complaints.

“We, therefore, appeal to customers to be patient while our technicians are clearing the power failure backlog,” said Mashigo.

Residents expreriencing problems could use the power failure SMS line and sms all their details to 44676 or call the customer care line on 012-358-9999.
