Discover SA through miniature models
Grade 5 to 7 pupils are invited to The Discovery Show hosted at Eersterust civic theatre, showcasing famous miniature heritage sites.
The Discovery Show is coming to town. Eersterust civic centre will play home to historic monuments and heritage sites – in miniature form.
From 8 to 11 March all grade 5 to 7 pupils are invited to The Discovery Show, hosted by Casper Bicks. His own miniature models and designs will be showcased at the centre.
“For years I have wanted to host this show, but could not secure the money,” Bicks said.
“I visited all places and heritage sites throughout South Africa to find inspiration for the heritage site models.”
Bicks said this ‘social science’ project will especially benefit pupils studying South Africa’s historical sites.
Bicks has built heritage sites such as Robben Island, Voortrekker monument and the Cradle of humankind on a small scale, so that pupils may have the opportunity to get a ‘closer look and a better picture’.
“Under one roof, all children will be able to see the heritage sites of South Africa and study our national symbols and coat of arms,” says Bicks.
“I will spice things up by giving away 20 return Gautrain tickets to Sandton. Each participating school will receive five tickets.”
