Eersterust football club gets united for triumph

Soccer update: Eersterust United football club beat The Rock football club 5-2.

The Tshwane SAB soccer league held its match-day event at the Eersterust soccer stadium on Friday evening.

The soccer league is part of a South African Breweries (SAB) initiative to develop SA’s future football stars and the sport at grassroots level.

Competing teams were The Rock football club (TRFC) from Hammanskraal and the home team, Eersterust United football club (EUFC).

EUFC won the match 5-2. The top goal scorer was Diego Lamptey, the attacking midfielder who is originally from Ghana and currently playing for the Eersterust team.

Lamptey scored three goals for EUFC while the others were scored by Cole Fischer, and Ashton Fortuin.

“I played well and managed to score those goals because we all worked together as a team. We are really fighting to win the league and move to the next level,” Lamptey said.

“It shows that we trained our boys well as they have been doing very good in all the SAB league matches,” said EUFC coach Nico Fischer.

Eersterust united FC will play against the Mamelodi based Dondol football club this Saturday, at a venue yet to be confirmed.
