Bester Birds & Animal Zoo Park held an interactive theatre on Saturday to teach and inspire people to change their behaviour about conservation.

During the presentation and feeding of the African penguins, visitors were invited to participate in learning about SASSI (South Africa Sustainable Seafood Initiative) through listening, learning and helping to catch the character known as Poacher Dan.
During the talk, Poacher Dan tries to sell his illegal catch, the visitors help notice this bad behaviour and help the conservationist by noticing his bad behaviour.
An official from the zoo, Robynn Ingle-Moller, who is responsible for Conservation Education & Visitor Experience, said their objective was to promote and encourage penguin promises.
“Throughout the day children and adults alike were inspired to write personal pledge, a promise to change their behaviour about conservation. Such as I promise to save water, to use the shower more, to use biodegradable soaps etc. The promises are then kept into a treasure chest safe,” she said.
