Hundreds take to the tracks for cancer
An event aimed at highlighting the debilitating effects of Cancer was held in Thaba Tshwane.
CANSA Relay for Life 2016 was held at Military Sports Club in Thaba Tshwane on Saturday night as part of efforts aimed at highlighting debilitating effects of cancer.
The event attracted hundreds of people including cancer survivors and others who are affected and concerned about cancer.
Various music artists and entertainers kept the crowd on their feet with different performances.
During the CANSA Relay For Life, teams of 10 to 15 members took turns to walk or run around a track for 12 hours.
The goal is to keep one team member on the track at all times, as cancer never sleeps.
Participants enjoyed camping-out, entertainment, good food, games and community camaraderie.
All those who attended shared a common purpose – their desire to help CANSA fight cancer and to support those affected by the condition.
Teams raised funds before and during the relay and these funds are dedicated to funding CANSA’s unique, integrated service within communities
The event started at 18:00 and rounded off at 06:00 on Sunday morning.
