Matsatsantsa looking for momentum

Supersport will take on Golden Arrows on Saturday as they look for a top 8 finish.

Supersport United is the only Pretoria side involved in the Absa Premier league this weekend. They take on Golden Arrows at the Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.

Matsatsantsa lie in 11th position from 22 games with only seven wins.

Coach Stuart Baxter hasn’t been getting positive results in the league since he started at the end of January.

Their last league outing ended in a 2-0 hammering at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns in the Tshwane Derby.

They will however be boosted by their 1-0 win last week, against Moroka Swallows in the Nedbank Cup.

Baxter and his team are now surely looking forward to next season as the 2015/16 campaign has not borne fruit for them.

Matsatsantsa are still in the Nedbank Cup however, but with teams such as Pirates and Sundowns still in the competition, it will be very hard for the Pretoria team to claim the cup they last won in 2012. In a fortnight, they face a University of Pretoria side that has been doing well of late.

New Zealand striker Jeremy Brookie has been United’s best player this season scoring nine goals. If he can remain on form throughout the season, perhaps they might snatch a top 8 finish. Baxter’s real task will start next season as he would have had a chance to assess his squad in the preseason.
