Uber reduces prices as winter looms
Uber SA has cut its fares for services offered by UberX in Johannesburg.
Uber users will be happy to know it will cost them less to travel using the Internet ride-sharing service as from 7 April.
According to Uber SA prices will be reduced by up to 20% during the quieter winter period for Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
Explaining their decision Uber said people tend to venture out less during winter. This could be tough on drivers becaues when business is slow they don’t earn money.
UberX is the company’s cheapest ride option on the app and the planned price cut is expected to save lots of money for users according to the statement.

Meanwhile, in Cape Town, Uber drivers are protesting over price cuts, with #TaxiFeesMustFall, getting momentum among aggrieved taxi commuters.

According to reports an Uber driver was hijacked at Cape Town airport last night.
