Cyclist critical after accident

A 17-year old cyclist's legs were seriously injured on Friday.

A 17-year old cyclist was critical after he was hit by a light motor vehicle on Friday afternoon in Centurion.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said medics arrived at the Clifton and Amkor road intersection in Centurion at

around 15:00 to find the boy critical.

Meiring said the boy was laying on the side of the road.

“The boy had sustained serious injuries to his legs and was in a critical condition,” he said.

He said medics attended to his injuries and he was transported to a local hospital.

Meiring said the cyclist might have failed to notice the oncoming vehicle at the intersection.

Police will investigate the cause of the accident,” he said.

OrangeFox medical rescue, Lyttelton police, the Tshwane Fire brigade and a local CPF responded to the accident.
