NEWSFLASH: Shots fired in attempted hijacking

"The woman began screaming and the hijacker broke the window,"

Shots were fired in an attempted hijacking east of Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon.

Garsfontein police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller said this happened in Kentucky Road in Faerie Glen.
A couple was waiting outside their complex in Faerie Glen for the entrance gate to open when a vehicle stopped right behind them.
“Three armed men jumped out of a VW Polo. As the wife began screaming, the perpetrators broke the passenger window and pointed a firearm at the couple,” he said.
Milller said shots were fired on the scene and the husband suffered a lip injury when he tried to stop the men from pointing a gun at them.
Miller said as the gate opened, the men fled the scene after grabbing his car keys and the woman’s ring.

He said the couple laid criminal charges at the police station.

“People are strongly advised to be vigilant when waiting to enter their places of residence. Criminals often follow victims and attack when no witnesses are in sight,” said Miller
