A Pep store branch in Soshanguve was targeted by criminals once again in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Pep store Batho Pele branch was hit by criminals who made off with goods and cash worth R200 000.
In April last year armed robbers hit the store and robbed it of cash and goods worth R350 000.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said the store’s branch manager told police he locked the store’s doors and burglar doors when the store closed on Tuesday at 17:30.
“He found the burglar door had been forced open on Wednesday morning when he returned to open the store for business the next morning,” said Mangena.
The suspects made off with 380 cellphones of different models, clothing, PVR decoders and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Mangena said police were following up leads.
He said police were investigating cases of business robbery (recent one) and armed robbery (from last year).
Statements were taken from the employees in the store, and the possibility of an inside job could not be ruled out, he said.
