A security guard shot and wounded in a robbery in Soshanguve was discharged from hospital on Tuesday.
His colleague, who was shot in the foot, was still recovering in hospital, said Mapule Rakgoale, manager of the store that was robbed.
Five armed men hit an Edgars Active at Soshanguve Plaza last Thursday.
Items stolen included cellphones worth R11 000 and clothes.
The tsotsis held Rakgoale (33), her assistant and security officers at gunpoint and demanded cellphones, said the police.
They shot the two security guards as they were making their getaway.
Rakgoale said the police had told staff the car used in the robbery was owned by someone who lived in a Midrand suburb.
“The police told us they managed to track down the owner of the vehicle. He is suspected to be a foreign national living in Midrand, but they could not find him at his house.”
Rietgat police spokesperson Lolo Magena would not confirm this, saying investigations were continuing.
“We will only give detailed comment after the investigation has been completed.”
Rakgoale said staff members were still traumatised.
“We can’t sleep at night… I keep hearing gun shots even when I am here at work,” she said.
“We are still waiting for the trauma counsellor to come and help us, but it is as though they do not care about us.”
