Men who killed mom get life

Two men from Winterveldt were handed life in prison for killing their mother.

The Winterveldt men who killed their mother in 2013, were on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment.

The two, Stanley Legodi (48) and David Kgatle (43), earlier convicted of murdering Kate Legodi (73) by the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court.

The deceased was Stanley’s biological mother and David’s stepmother.

The men had been found guilty of rape whose sentence run concurrently as the murder sentence.

Police spokesperson, Constable Petunia Chabangu said Kate was a well-known business woman who owned a crèche at Mahlangu stand in Winterveldt.

“The deceased was murdered on 2013, on Valentine’s day. Stanley was arrested on the same day and David months later,” said Chabangu.

Loate SAPS management congratulated detective warrant officer Buti Baloyi for working hard on the case and helping the family, friends and community of Winterveldt find closure.
