Leaking water from meter floods street
Residents in are frustrated due to poor service delivery from the Tshwane metro.
Residents of Eric Molobi Innovation Hub in Soshanguve Block XX are unhappy with the Tshwane metro after their complaints about water leaks in the area were unheeded.
A leak from a meter was reported two months ago, and another from a fire hydrant has flooded the road.
Residents say the pools formed as a result are breeding ground for mosquitoes.
“There are five such leaks that have been reported to the metro,” said a resident.
McDonalds Seanego, a resident in Block XX, has reported the leaks a number of times but no one has come to do repairs.
“I have been reporting service delivery issues affecting residents this side but the municipality takes a very long time to respond,” said Seanego.
“Most of the time they do not help us at all. Now we wonder where we should go to report these things.”
Some residents are concerned for the children that played in these pools.
Nary Seolwane, a mother of a 7 year-old, says: “Kids are kids. They love playing, especially with water. They will play with water whether it is clean or not and that worries me because my child might get sick.”
Simon Maruthula, councillor for ward 90 says he is not aware of the resident’s grievances.
