Tshwane rapidly turning blue
Keep up to date with the latest results of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
Early Saturday morning IEC results indicated that the Democratic Alliance (DA) is yet again in the lead with 43.55%.
During the night, the African National Congress (ANC) dropped significantly from its 42.9% lead to 40.92%. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) slightly gained strength from 11.38% to 11.54 on Saturday.
In Johannesburg, the DA remained in the lead with 42.01%, ANC with 41.54% and EFF with 10.49%.
DA lead Mmusi Maimane predicted on Friday night, his party would take the lead in Tshwane. “If we look at all the results currently at our disposal the DA has obtained more votes than the ANC in the capital,” adding that Solly Msimanga was likely to be the next mayor of Tshwane.
It is believed he had based his statement on ballots counted, but not yet scanned or verified by the IEC.
