NEWSFLASH: Cable thieves strike in the north of Pretoria

Consumers can expect the work to take 12 to 18 hours.

Several areas in the north of Pretoria are without power after cables running between two major sub-stations were stolen on Saturday night.

Councillor for ward 5 Arnold van Niekerk said it is hoped power would be restored by the end of Sunday.

He said affected areas were those served by the Wonderboompoort and Doornpoort sub-stations, part of Montana, Sinoville and Onderstepoort (in the Wonderboom area).

Van Niekerk asked consumers to expect the work to take 12 to18 hours.

“As the recent Montana power cut showed, teams fixing and replacing the cables sometimes discover more extensive damage elsewhere,” said Van Niekerk.
