Three men nabbed after police chase
Three suspects driving in a stolen vehicle were arrested by the Mamelodi police after they lost control and overturned.
The Mamelodi police arrested three men for car hijacking and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Monday afternoon.
The men were further charged with reckless and negligent driving.
Police spokesperson Captain Johannes Maheso said the three were aged between 26 and 36.
“Police received information for a lookout of a white BMW 320 with registration FY88VWGP which was hijacked in Sunnyside. The vehicle was spotted in Mamelodi West and a chase ensued and shots were fired,” said Maheso.

The suspects lost control of the hijacked vehicle and it overturned. The three men were trapped inside.
“After they were rescued, they were arrested and an unlicensed Smith and Wesson revolver with six bullets was seized,” Maheso said.
“Investigations are continuing to find out if they may be linked to other crimes.”
The men were expected in the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court soon.
