Five suspected hijackers nabbed in Atteridgeville

The suspects were arrested following a tip-off from the community.

Five suspected hijackers were arrested in Atteridgeville on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said they were caught during an intelligence-driven operation in the Attridgeville area.

It was conducted by the Tshwane west cluster trio task team.

“One of the suspects was arrested following a tip-off from the community, and more information emerged which led to the arrest of four others,” he said.

Moloto said the group was allegedly involved in a string of hijackings of delivery vehicles in and around Atteridgeville.

“During the arrest, police recovered items such as washing machine, refrigerator, Plasm TV and two motor vehicle engines which were reported stolen. “

He said the men aged between 24-32 years were expected to appear in court soon

Stolen property and car hijacking dockets were opened at Atteridgeville police station and investigations were continuing.
