Man (62) bust for drugs

A community member tipped police about a man selling dagga at Laudium Shopping Centre.

A 62-year-old was recently arrested with a bag of dagga in Laudium.

Laudium police spokesperson Constable Simon Chokoe said the arrest on Wednesday afternoon followed a tip-off.

“Police were busy with their routine stop and search campaign when a member of the community alerted them about a man selling dagga at Laudium Shopping Centre.

“The police found the suspect fitting the description given at the Laudium taxi rank.”

Chokoe said the man was found with a bag of dagga and matchsticks.

The street value of the dagga was R3 196, 50, he said.

“He was immediately arrested for possession of dagga. A case docket of possession of dagga was opened at Laudium SAPS for further investigation.”

Station Commander Lt-Colonel Johan Britz applauded his members for their swift response.
