A car believed to be involved in vehicle theft incidents in the Pretoria east area was seized in Tembisa on Saturday.
Brinant security spokesperson Martin Barnard said the car was spotted on Rubenstein Avenue in Moreleta Park by the security company’s personnel whose advanced technology flagged the car as “suspicious”.
“One of our reaction vehicles picked up the vehicle as suspicious.

“They ran the plates and it came out on a different vehicle,” Barnard said.
The car was kept under surveillance in Faerie Glen and near an east shopping mall until it sped off towards Tembisa.
“They followed the car and called assistance from SAPS,” he said.

The suspected car thieves got away, leaving the car abandoned.
“Numerous vehicle theft tools and a number of false registration plates were recovered in the vehicle,” said Barnard.
