The hunt is on for robbers who are targeting food outlets in the CBD, police have confirmed.
The robbers allegedly drove a Toyota Quantum or Nissan minibus and targeted fast-food outlets at night, said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.
She said last weekend two pizza outlets had been robbed.
Selepe gave the following safety tips to fast food operators:
– CCTV cameras are an important deterrent to crime.
– If possible, hire security personnel and make sure they are visible.
– Keep access to tills limited; use a protective (preferably bulletproof) glass screen and lockable doors to ensure that nobody gains unauthorised access to tills.

– Make sure cash tills are positioned in such way that the person on the other side of the counter cannot access any money. There are various ways to do this, but the basic one is to keep tills away from the front of the store. Make sure that your employees are the only ones with access to tills.
