The police are on the hunt for two men suspected of involvement in hijackings in Pretoria North. They are thought to be using a white bakkie in the hijackings.
Spokesperson Captain Rebecca Phatlane warned residents to be on the lookout after the men were spotted in the area.
“People should remain vigilant,” warned Phatlane.

“Be aware of your surroundings. Do not stop in unknown locations at night. If you feel unsafe or think someone might be following you, drive to the nearest police station.”

Phatlane said motorists should practice the same alertness when parking their vehicles at shopping centres.
“Recently, we have been getting a lot of vehicle theft reports from a local shopping centre,” she said.
The thefts of or from vehicles have risen in the Ben Viljoen Street centre in the past few weeks.
“People must remember to lock their doors. We still find that some people are so comfortable that they would leave their keys in the ignition,” said Phatlane.

“Remove detachable radios and leave valuables in the boot.
“Have your car keys in your hand when approaching your vehicle – this reduces the chance of you being overwhelmed while you are searching for your keys.”
