Nine vehicles were impounded at the Gautrain station in Lyttelton on Friday.
Police spokesman Captain Dave Miller said this happened during an intelligence-driven operation with the metro police.

“A number of fines were also issued for traffic violations.”
Miller said the area was a well-known crime hotspot where criminals had easy access to vehicles parked outside the station.
He urged Gautrain commuters to rather cough up the money required to park in the station’s secure parking area.
“The police need the support and co-operation of the community to curb crime. The communities need to accept responsibility for their private property,” said Miller.
He warned that the culprits were slick and adept at using any possible opportunity to commit a crime.
