Role model to be crowned Miss Tshwane

The pageant will also positively change the lives of this young women by showcasing the diverse talents they have.

The search is on for “a positive young woman” to be crowned Miss Tshwane 2018, says organiser Lerato Joseph.

Joseph told the Rekord the pageant supported youth campaigns focusing on combating poverty, unemployment and HIV/AIDS.

“Hence we are looking for someone who is a role model and can impact the lives of young people,” she said.

“We are still dealing with struggles of the past, and we want to change that.”

Joseph said as much as the emphasis was on finding a solutions-driven person, the pageant would open doors to opportunity for the winner.

“The pageant will also positively change the lives of this young women by showcasing the diverse talents they have as part of the prizes to be won is a modeling contract,” she said.

The first round of auditions was held in Hatfield last weekend but at Sunny Park Shopping Centre on 19 May.

“The pageant will be hosted at Cappello, that is where they will be judged by a panel of accomplished people who have been in the industry for long,” she said.

Joseph said the judges were looking for someone who had shown leadership capabilities.

“It is not just about the beauty and how tall they are. We are looking for someone who will help contribute to their communities by establishing projects that would benefit that very same community,” she said.

The organiser said prizes included a R10 000 cash prize, manicure, and pedicure treatment, a Durban vacation – flight and accommodation will be paid for, a modelling contract with a top agency, make-up kits, food voucher and Brazilian hair.”

The crowing of Miss Tshwane will be held in August at a venue yet to be confirmed, and tickets will be sold at Computicket.

Entry for participants is free and open to young women between the ages of 18 and 30, said the organiser.
