
Police are searching for a group of men who shot a motorist during an attempted hijacking in Moreleta Park on Monday evening.
According to police, the victim was driving a Hyundai H1 when he was ambushed by the hijackers at his residence in Rubenstein Drive.
“As he was approaching his driveway, four armed men approached and one of them fired a shot through his window, injuring him,” police said in a statement.
The suspects fled with valuables (including luggage) in a VW Polo and are yet to be arrested, police said.

The victim had just flown back into the country from Australia.
Martin Barnard of Brinant security said the victim was arriving home from the airport when an unknown number of suspects followed him.
“Shots were fired and the man was wounded in the stomach. He was transported to a hospital and is in a stable condition.”
According to a witness, the victim was shot and taken out of his car.

“When I passed that house from work, I saw a man lying near his garage door covered in blood. Outside the house, was a Hyundai H1 which had one occupant inside and two others around it while another was attending to the victim.”
The witness said he rushed to the nearest filling station to call Brinant security.
“A few minutes later when I returned, no one was on the scene except security officers. It was as if nothing had happened. It appeared to me that the men were trying to steal the Hyundai but failed.”
