NEWSFLASH: Man killed on N4 east

Two lanes of the freeway were closed.

A 41-year-old man was killed when he was knocked over by a vehicle on the N4 in the east of Pretoria on Thursday afternoon.

Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said this happened close to Watermeyer off-ramp around 12:50.

The victim was a truck driver who had stopped to talk to people on the roadside.

“A motorist in the fast lane knocked him over,” said Sepato.

The man was declared dead on the scene.

Tshwane metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the victim was working in the area.

Two lanes of the freeway were closed.

“They will remain closed for the next two hours to allow for the police to complete their investigation on the scene,” Mahamba said by 15:00.

A culpable homicide docket was opened and police urged possible eyewitnesses to contact them on 012-358-7095/6.
