A Brooklyn man accused of killing his wife will hear on Thursday whether he will be granted bail.
Prem Emmanuel Basdeo (58) is scheduled to back in the Pretoria Magistrate Court in the morning for this purpose.

At the conclusion of Basdeo’s bail hearing earlier in the week, the magistrate said he would give his ruling the application on Thursday.
Basdeo faces charges of murder, perjury and defeating the ends of justice for his alleged involvement in his wife Dawn Basdeo’s disappearance.
At his previous court appearance, it was revealed that Basdeo had given the police contradicting statements.
In one, the investigating officer said Basdeo had admitted to disposing of Dawn’s body after she fell in the bathroom while they were having an argument.

Basdeo told him that his wife of 15 years had threatened him with a knife. As he wrestled with her for the knife, she accidentally cut herself, fell down and never woke up.
Basdeo explained to the officer how he wrapped Dawn’s body in a brown blanket, loaded it into a car and disposed of it after a long drive.

Dawn went missing on 8 June. When reporting this to the Brooklyn police station, Basdeo said she had left home to go to a hospital for blood tests, but never returned.
Police were on Thursday still searching for the body.
