A Mamelodi hijacker on Saturday didn’t think twice about revealing the identity of his accomplice to the police.
This after his accomplice went to the same hospital as him to seek medical attention, following a shootout with police.
The drama started when the two suspected criminals hijacked a Toyota Tazz in Mamelodi on Saturday at around 14:00, according to police spokesperson Captain Johannes Maheso.
“Police were patrolling the area when they noticed the vehicle speeding through the streets,” said Maheso.
A chase ensued in which police opened fire at the hijackers.
“The men lost control of the vehicle. One fled the scene and the other was arrested,” said Maheso.
Maheso said the captured hijacker was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
“There he spotted the second hijacker and quickly identified him as his accomplice,” said Maheso.
The second man was duly arrested.
The two men face charges of hijacking and possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
