The man believed to be responsible for the murder of a Tshwane metro police officer was arrested at the weekend.
“The suspect who stabbed Constable PS Serekele to death on Thursday, 13 September was arrested on Saturday,” metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said.
Serekele was stabbed to death at his Mamelodi, east of Pretoria, residence on Thursday evening.
“His firearm and cellphone were also recovered,” he said.

A memorial service is set to be held for the constable at the TMPD headquarters in the Pretoria CBD on Thursday.
Mahamba said that although the arrest brought some relief to his family and colleagues, a hardworking and dedicated officer was lost.
“Although we lost a hardworking and dedicated officer we would like to thank TMPD and SAPS members for working very hard to apprehend the culprit.”
The suspect was due to appear in court on Monday.
