44 taxis impounded in Pretoria crackdown
The impounded taxis did not have permission to be on the roads.
Law enforcement agencies have impounded 44 taxis in the west and some areas north of Pretoria on Friday.
This was during a joint-operation between the Tshwane metro police, the Gauteng traffic department as well as the police.

The operation started in August and was aimed at enforcing traffic laws and rooting out lawlessness on the roads, said metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
Mahamba said the impounded taxis did not have permits to be on the road.
“To date 296 taxis were impounded city wide,” he said.
Mahamba said more than 200 taxis were impounded for infringement of traffic laws and mostly with no required documents.

He said the operation was also conducted in Menlyn and would be done throughout Tshwane.
“The operation will continue and will be carried out in various parts of the city.”
